Dermapen

Dermapen Treatment
DR.PEN, a highly advanced skin rejuvenation therapy system, is now available. This is a pen-like device with 11 fine, 33-gauge needles vertically inserted into the skin at such a rapid pace that the client experiences little pain or discomfort. DR.PEN helps to reduce fine lines and wrinkles, tighten and lift skin, treat acne scars and stretch marks treatment.

The Dermapen’s multiple, vibrating needles pierce the skin several hundred times per minute to enhance rejuvenation and collagen stimulation and is far safer than other methods. Because the DR.PEN is fully adjustable, it is easier to treat delicate areas around the nose and eyes. The treatment also helps to minimize pore size and it can be combined with platelet rich plasma (PRP) to stimulate collagen production and speed healing.

This treatment is used to help patients with all skin types and is a corrective and preventative therapy to treat fine lines and wrinkles, manage acne scars or other injury scars, improve skin texture and colour from melasma patches, reduce stretch mark/cellulite appearance and stimulate new collagen growth.

Skin creams can also be absorbed more effectively and seep deeper into the skin after Dermapen treatment.

Then you need Dr.Pen! The smart choice for beautiful skin.

Dermapen FAQs

As the Dermapen stamps over your skin, it creates micro-point punctures in the skin. This controlled damage stimulates the release of growth factors that trigger the production of collagen and elastin. Thus, the skin is tricked into repairing itself. Your skin reacts to any injury by initiating the healing process. You encourage your skin to continue healing through this micro-needling process.

The process of micro-needling skin remodeling can go on for months after each Dermapen treatment. Results can be seen within a week.Your skin naturally heals itself every 45 days, so with a little micro-needling stimulation changes can be dramatic and fast.

Yes. Skin needling can be safely performed on all skin colours and types. There is no risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. This is then advantage skin needling has over lasers and chemical peels.

The procedure is normally takes 30-45 minutes depending on the required treatment and site.A topical anesthetic is applied to your skin prior to treatment.

The DermaPen is then moved over your skin to puncture the upper layer of the skin and create tiny punctures. These microscopic wounds stimulate new collagen deposition which can last for up to a year. The wounds close within an hour.

Yes,very safe. Allergic reactions and side-effects are very unlikely to occur. It is minimally invasive, involves minimal downtime (approx. 24hrs), rapid healing and requires only simple after-care.

Dermapen Aftercare Instructions

Immediately after your medical needling therapy you will look as though you have moderate sunburn and your skin may feel warm and tighter than usual. This will start to subside after 2 to 3 hours and will normally recover within 24 hours, with only slight redness the following day. Occasionally this redness can persist for 3 – 4 days.

To assist your skin in its recovery please follow the recommendations below:

  • Use tepid water to cleanse the face for the following 48 hours and dry gently. Always make sure your hands are clean when touching the treated area.
  • It is recommended that make up (unless your botonics specialist recommends a mineral make-up or camouflage) is not applied for 12 hours after the therapy and to avoid other aggressive skin products until the redness has subsided.
  • Avoid saunas, steam rooms, excessive exercise, hot baths or showers until the redness has done.
  • Avoid intensive sun light exposure and artificial UV exposure for a period of at least 2 weeks after your therapy. Use a broad spectrum UBA/UVB sun protectant with an SPF50 on a daily basis during this period. botonics recommend BETA SKIN CARE CREAM. You will benefit from continuing to apply this on a daily basis for at least two weeks even during the winter or on cloudy days.

In the days following your medical needling therapy as the skin starts to regenerate and repair it may well feel drier than normal. A good anti-ageing moisturiser will help during this period.

Ask your botonics specialist for specific skincare advice as a good skincare regime can help the medical needling skin regeneration and scar repair process.

In the following weeks, the skin texture and tone may well improve as new skin cells are generated and blood supply is enhanced. Skin tightening and the reduction of fine lines and wrinkles require new collagen to form, mature and remodel. This take at least 6 weeks and continue for 6 months or more, providing a natural and long lasting enhancement.

Remember that a course of 3 or more medical needling treatments is normally recommended for optimum improvement with periodical medical needling therapy treatments in the following years to ‘top up’ the natural regeneration that has taken place.
